Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does my computer freeze?
A: Corruption within your registry keys, registry classes, and
registry settings are the most common causes of Windows error
messages. Software conflict at start-up is the number one cause of
computer freezing.
Q: Do I still need to backup my system?
A: Yes, system restore is not a substitute for backing up your data.
Favourite ways of backing up data is by CD or DVD. Another solution would be
the use of inexpensive external hard drives.
Q: My program shortcuts are not working?
A: Incorrect program shortcuts can cause headaches! They could cause
applications to take longer to launch or even stop them from working
at all.
Q: Which version of Windows Vista do I
need?
A: There are five versions of Vista available: Home Basic, Home
Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate. Most users will want
Home Premium. If your system is on the low end of the hardware
requirements, you might want Home Basic. The Ultimate version
contains everything.
Q: How do I keep my kids safe on the
Internet? (pre-teens)
A:Teach them not to give personal information such as address,
telephone number, parents work address/telephone number, or the
location of their school without parents permission. To tell you
right away if they come across any information that makes them
uncomfortable. Never agree to get together with someone they "meet"
online without first getting permission from parents. If parents
agree to this meeting, it must be in a public place and one of the
parents must accompany the child. Kids must never send a person
their picture or anything else without checking with their parents.
They must not respond to any messages that are mean or make them
feel uncomfortable in any way. Parents must setup rules for their
kids (pre-teens) going online. Kids must not give out any Internet
passwords to anyone (even best friends) other than to parents.
Parents should take note what kids are downloading and what software
they are installing, as this can jeopardize the family computer and
privacy.
